Data communication is vital for our digital world. It connects us with the devices and services that we depend on. A data communications network may comprise more than two computer involved in the process of communication.

Both of these methods require specialized equipment which can combine and separate signals. This function is often performed by custom integrated circuits which are found in a wide range of communication products such as phones, computers, and printers.

The data communication mode that allows for simultaneous two-way communication between a pair of devices is known as full-duplex communications. This type of communication is more complex than simplex communication because it requires the ability of sending and receiving data simultaneously.
